With just FOUR days to go before my show NOUVELLES IMAGES starts here in Lauzerte on 6 June, its time for a Blog update. OK, I know its been a while… sorry…. but its been all go in the studio for several months now and to mis-quote somebody or other, when my pictures brain is turned on my text brain is turned off. And the pictures brain has been BUZZING. I now have a full complement of 10 images for my new show, six in the “Plat du jour” series and four much bigger ones which are all inspired by landscapes within 15 km of my home in Lauzerte. These four are called “Fontbouysse 1 and 2” and “Tréjouls 1 and 2”.
Anyway, I want to talk a bit more about the “Fontbouysse” series. We recently discovered this large hidden lake near Montaigu de Quercy and I have visited it several times to make sketches and Chris (my partner, husband……) has taken loads of photos. It is an inspiring place tucked away in a valley surrounded by dense woodland where the interaction of light and shade make it all the more mysterious. My subsequent etchings and a couple of Chris’ photos are (I hope) published below…..
Thankfully I am not doing the show alone – my friend Jenny Graham is coming over from the UK to exhibit her paintings of the Lauzerte area alongside my etchings. Jenny arrives on Tuesday and we plan to celebrate our first collaboration in France with a bit of a knees up on THURSDAY 6 JUNE 6-8PM, in the Médiathèque here in Lauzerte. The show runs from 6 to 19 June. Here are a couple of Jenny’s wonderful paintings….
so wish I could be with you for opening, gallery sitting, and un-authorised picture removing – sadly for me am stuck in UK doing dull stuff but no doubt you will heave a sigh of relief nothing will leave the walls until take-down! Good luck with it – hope you make squillions lots of love
