This started it’s life as a photo of a bowl of raspberry coulis, with some sort of biscuit draped artistically across it. I have simplfied the image and “abstracted” a slightly different shape for the coulis. I was actually more interested in the way the yellow looked on top of the red and the shapes of the two different colour areas. I nver usually work from photos so this series of prints was a bit of a challenge – but the process has helped me understand more about shape and texture, I think.

This was the first print in the Plat du Jour series and I think it is still my favourite. Like all six prints in the series it evolved from a photograph of food taken by my friend Greg Orr, who must have travelled all over the world seeking out the most sublime meals. This print began as a photo of ice cream with a chocolate sauce although the colours and shapes developed into something far more abstract than the original, of course.. The pale pink took ages to “find” because I wanted something not too “girly” and I love the way it looks on top of the velvety chocolatey red. They definitely look good enough to eat!
\looks to me like the chocolate is eating the pink – choc monster…..jacyxx
Chocolate monsters are the best sort I always think….R
